Cheers Mate!
Muh-ha-ha.
I was in the mechanical space this morning. There is nothing as self-satisfying as seeing engineers freeze in place with guilty looks on their face as I come swooping around the corner in my hard hat. Cuz I'm QA and they really don't want me seeing what they are doing.
LOL.
Them: "Err, uhh... 'threadwalker'! What are you doing here? ... uh, do you come up here?"
Me: "I have work to do." (big smile, direct eye contact)
Them: "uhh.. yah. Cheers, mate."
I'm still giggling.
Fabu weekend
Kids picked up on Friday from preschool by Nana. We spent Friday running errands and hanging out and connecting. Why can't I work 4-hr days everyday? Oh! Riiiiight... that mortgage. Dang!
But it was fun. We thought of going to a movie, but never made it. Oh well. No biggie. I think we didn't get home until ... ? .... 6pm from errands? 7pm? So we slugged around. I think I may have done some laundry; so typical of me to squeeze in a useful task when I'm supposed to be kicking it. Grrr! why can't I just relax?
Saturday we went to the Boar Hunt. A grandtime was had by all. I pulled out the bumble bee dress (1490, Urbino or Florence if anyone cares); I wanted pictures of me in it before it gets trashed. I've loaned it out and the hem is starting to show wear. Took the pictures. sigh. I hate pictures of myself. I need to take pictures of someone else in my dresses, then I won't be so critical. hahaha!
Anyway ..bzzz, bzzz, bzzz. So I wandered around snapping shots. But it's time for a new camera or battery or something because although it was charged up on Friday, it died 30-minutes into use on Saturday. (bummer!) I need to do some cost comparison; is it more cost efficient to get a new battery (assuming I can find one - this camera is like 7 yrs old) or to get a new camera.
(side note: when did stuff become so disposable? My mom raised me that you bought something and never needed to replace it. Times have certainly changed. Look at cars... Anyway, I digress)
The feast was lovely. We sat next to W&S (excellent dinner company) and across from a couple we'd never met. They were funny and witty - this was their first feast. So OF COURSE the spouse has to tell them embarrassing stories about me. It must be love. heh. U sat at the end of our table; she came prepared with spices - very wise of her to always be prepared that way. On our other side were ... more new people for my husband to entertain with "and then my wife did x" stories. I don't remember the dinner conversation, but I remember laughing alot and enjoying myself by watching people.
I think the Tuna was my favorite dish. I had seconds.
Sunday was kid-er-ific.
I was supposed to pick up the kids at 8 am from Nana's so that we could be on time for a party, but I think I'm running on empty. I laid in bed watching the clock tick past 8am and finally roused myself at 8:15. The party had been going for 45 min when we arrived at Jump it Up, but we had more than an hour left on the clock, which is PLENTY of time to chase children and become utterly exhausted.
Jump it up: a carpetted and painted warehouse-like loft. There was one big jumpie house plus a big inflated slide (20+ feet at top?) plus an inflated obstacle course thing with climbing, crawling and sliding. Everything is inflated and definitely encourages bouncing. So why is this for kids? I had a blast. bounce, bounce, bounce!
Of course, being me, I immediately mess up my right knee bouncing w/ Claw and then chased the 5 to 6 year old boys (at their request!), at full speed through the obstacle course, up the slide, into and around the Jump House and then again to start ... over and over and over and ... hahhaa! Tremendous fun. However, now the entire outside area of my knee has become sore and tender and I am feeling a bit older than the kids I was chasing.
And my mom came over yesterday so that we could spend some time together before she takes off for the East Coast. She's spending the holiday with sissy's family while sis is in Pakistan relieving civil service nurses. 'Nuf said.

We took it to Hawaii on our honeymoon, and love the quality of pictures when we printed some.
Pen and clipboard: $4.00
Hardhat: $20
The look of surprise on Engineers face when you walk through the door?: Priceless.
Glad you had a fabu weekend! Those are important.
Hugs!
