12th Night

It was weird. I was there without husband (or kids). I haven't been to a 12th Night without Farin in 18 years.

One plus: I had the most restful sleep evah! 2 nights of that and I came home fired up. Totally zooming around the house.

The event: it was nice. I didn't feel rushed. I wasn't involved in organizing or being on someone else's time schedule. Nor was I playing catch up or tag w/ my spouse, which was a part I missed.

Mostly I got to reconnect with some friends who I've missed. Totally awesome. I got to talk to some new friends even more. Yay! I talked myself hoarse.

IMO, the Saturday night party scene was missing the magic party vibe. I quit earlyish, dropped in on the casbah, but wasn't in the mood to watch others dance and (IMO) there were only 2 dancers there who were on their game and worth watching and I grew up dancing with them, so... While I was there, the drumming was uninspired. Chani rocks, but she clearly had to flip into teacher mode. I retreated to the hot tub (w/ my pirate bathing suit! arrrr!), which was glorious and warm in the rain. My fav way of hot tubbing is in the rain. I spent hours there and my towel got soaked, which was the only downfall. I met some WoW gamers and spent some fun time comparing CoH to WoW. It was fun to be anonymous at an SCA event, too. Ceinwen and Savaric caught up w/ me there.

When I quit I was just going to go to my room and pull out my research for my next project (yes, I packed reading material). Before nesting for the night I planned on filching more cisor off Ysa, but ended up in the wrong room in my suit and sopping wet towel. I landed in Matt and Brynne's room, where they and others were gathered and watching Braveheart.

It was most excellently mocked by all. It was a really nice visit. I felt stupid in my suit and towel, but I hung out anyway because it was one of the batches of folks I really like and don't get to see very often.

Sunday I had room service delivered while I packed. THAT was the path of sanity. I started reading while enjoying my mug of green tea. And then packing and then mimosa w/ Calistotoni, et al, and then more socialing and packing and socializing...

There was definitely a theme of socializing.

And then home. E is better, but F was sick and retreated to bed as soon as I got there. N was playing a computer game on the laptop... which is still something I'm digesting. hmmm.

I never made it to the hotel, but it sounds like you were having fun!
