"Down with Carbs"
Just say "no".

I turned down a free lunch at a good Dim Sum place. ugh. I accepted the invite a week ago and talked myself into declining this morning; it's not "safe" food since it's carby and high calorie and will be an "all you can eat situation", which is a recipe for disaster for me. What a test of my willpower. Not only that, it was a "celebratory" lunch and our project is super stingy about those. So double "ugh". And the guy coordinating it was so nice and tried to convince me to go, but I made my saving throw against Awesome Pork Bun... and I'll be having the lunch I brought from home.

I will have to console myself that Will Power and a healthy lunch are better than Awesome Dim Sum. I need to go chant, "down with carbs" to myself outside for a few minutes because part of me is still NOT convinced this was the right choice. Ugh.

*sympathy*

I can't do the super good Indian buffet that's a block from my office for the same reason - it's just impossible for me to resist the siren song of that hot basket of nan delivered to the table.

Well, I went to the fantastic Indian buffet work going-away party thing today. Sigh. Yes, I had two pieces of naan and two little bowls of rice pudding. So, you are my new inspiration.

When I go to a dim sum place, it's actually easier for me, since I decide in advance how many pieces I'll eat, and since they are distinct pieces it's easier to control.
