Oops!

My first Tri of the year is not going to be in Auburn because THAT race is on 5/31. I go to a biking training camp on 6/4 for several days of mountainous cycle training and I have no desire to show up wiped out.

Nope. THIS is my next race, Windman. Where? In (drum roll) LOS BANOS!

Weren't we just there? I wonder how it will smell in April. At least I know where I want to stay if we get a room. Bwah-ha-ha!

Actually that area should be great in April. No dairies. Mostly grazing land. If it is a warm spring, you will probably want to bring some bug spray.

Well THAT's good news. I figured my nose would numb-out fairly quickly.

I was super-amused that the only USA-Triathlon Association Sanctioned Race within driving distance between now and mid-May puts me right back where I was a few weeks ago. Serious giggle fest here. And fortunately, I can estimate how early I need to leave the house in order to get there and stage my stuff. (FYI - 3 hr window to drive, park, unload, stage, warm up and get to start spot, so we'll be out the door at 4am or earlier. No, I have not warned the spouse. HE's the one that insisted I make these activities 1-day events and not weekend-long events. more snickering.).

Sounds about right. FYI the park is about 10 minutes from the 12th Night site. Continue south on I-5 past Santa Nella. Head east on 152. Turn right onto back roads following signs and directions.

Not that it will bother you with your mountain riding experience, but the park itself is foothill rolls, not farmland flat (It's one of the areas we've looked at for holding a war). Sounds like the bulk of the course will be out in the farmlands with starts and finishes in the park. Traffic is very minimal around there and drivers are largely courteous (at least to ponies and carts).

Also, assuming you're hungry after your race, the Wool Growers Basque Restaurant in Los Banos is where we dined Friday of 12th Night ... highly recommended.

Oh - excellent to know. I tend to like a heaping plate of protein after one of these. Then I take a huge nap (fall into a comatose state) where short of an air-horn in my face, you can't wake me up.

Racing is good. Eating good food after racing is awesome.
