In brief:

I love the weather. I can't wait to start riding to work.. Probably this week, in fact. yay!

Knee: better. It was probably a sprain. The orthopedist dug into the tissue w/ his pile-driver fingers and did all sorts of low-tech probing. It looks good.

Fitness: Mostly I'm making gains in weight lifting. Yay! Probably lost lots of ground on biking and running. Boo! But I'm very motivated. Yay! I started walking on the treadmill at home last night. If I run all the book-cases start to rock and slam into the wall, which is bad. But I can do a brisk walking on an incline, which is probably great for knee-recovery. yay! My plan forward is to do power walking while kids are doing homework and sort of "help" them from an upright-walking position. LOL. And then tonight, after they are in bed, go to gym and sit on bike and see how the knees like it, followed by weight lifting.

Embroidery Projects: The embroidery got completed. It's getting dropped off at post-office on my way home. I'm framing up the pelican tonight. yay.

Sewing projects: I'm sewing. Yay. I've started something very boring... I'm making work clothes. I cannot find skirts that I like in the stores. They are either too short, too long, too narrow, too boring or too cheaply made. A lot of them are cheaply made. I want to wear my boots with skirts, I want some of them to be lined and some of them to be swishy. I got a bunch of seasonal linens on sale to make some fun work skirts. I also need some "nice" coats for when we go out - the comfy wool coats are snuggly, but not styling. I got a chocolate brown tectured brocade and sand-colored lining to make a fancy trench to go with my chocolate brown sheath dress. And I found the "retro" dress patterns for some stuff from 1957...hawt DAM! Those look fun! AND it turns out Great Grandma in Oregon gave me some of HER patterns from the 1950's and it looks like my measurements will fit them. Yay! Anyway, sewing is happening, but totally not what interests most of my sewing friends. Oddly enough, I keep thinking all this modern stuff ought to go "Faster" than it's currently going. OH well. I think I'll finish my 1st blouse and 2nd skirt tonight.

Cal Shakes: HRJ and I were talking about "dressing up" for them. One of the plays is "Happy Days". I think it would be fun to wear poodle skirts.

Parenting:
The things kids say.

Super N, yesterday, "Mommy, I'm hungry. I want meat."

I was so pleased. RAWR. My little meat-eaters. Seriously, no idea why I was pleased, but I was. Maybe it was because he was asking for something besides a treat.

Super N hung out in my shed w/ me yesterday. It was fun. We watched "The New Avengers" while I tidied the Corbie Cave and sewed. He wants to watch "The Last Samarai" with me. yay.

Harder parenting: Super N has been pulling "Class Clown" stunts and disrupting his class. I wasn't there when it happened and when talking to me he sincerely says he has no idea what he's doing that could be disruptive. Quite a pickle; how can you say don't do "x" if neither one of you are sure of what "x" is. Then I caught him in the act of "acting out" for an audience while we were out. It was one of those instances where he was talking to me but looking at people near us and saying his words for the benefit of other people... saucy snappy come-backs that were humorous and clownish. HA! Snap! So I pulled him aside immediately and said, "THAT kind of talking could be what's pissing off your teachers." Ensue serious talk with lots of eye contact. Yay team! It doesn't help that we use a lot of humor at home to teach, diffuse tension, and to turn tears into giggles. He needs to develop better judgement on when/where, but self-awareness to start.

Any possibility of pictures of the embroidery project?

oh blah. it was very uninspired. It's going on the hem of a cloak. I just couldn't get excited about something that will probably end up on the ground. I'm much MUCH more excited about the next few pieces I'm doing. All gifts of lurve!
