Doll World

I haven't worked an 8hour day since the Friday before Crown and I haven't been to work since 10/6. And it's totally pouring out and I have to scurry from building to building all day. pheh! Guess where I totally don't want to be right now? Yup. Work.

So I shall relate something that had me laughing pretty hard.

Miss E is very very excited about her Barbie dolls. She zipped through her homework and chores yesterday to play. The girls are named Sophie (blonde) and Katie (brunette). She also has Prince Eric (a la Little Mermaid) as "the guy". Here is the monologue that emerged as she played beside me. And before I go further, I had NO input on this I just listened as it played out and did my best to keep the laughing on the inside.

The Tournament Finals, as Told by Miss E:

Sophie is seated on her moped and Katie is leaning up next to her. Miss E is grasping Prince Eric and waving him around.

"Prince Eric, you are fighting in armor. Like those guys in the SCA. It's the very last fight and after you win you get to pick which girl will be Princess with you. Katie thinks you're going to pick her, because you already told her. So she's already wearing the fancy hat-crown to warm it up."

(The fancy hat-crown is a Barbie bikini bottom which looks like underwear and which Miss E has declared is fancy underwear. Yes, this means the doll is wearing underwear on her head.)

"But what will you do after you win? Now that you've won, how will we guess who you've picked? Oh, we will know because you're pointing at her. But Prince Eric, you're not pointing at Katie, you're pointing at Sophie. So Sophie gets to wear the fancy hat."

(She whips this off Katie's head and plops it on Sophie's head.)

"Katie is so sad. See how she's crying?"

"Oh Katie!" says Sophie. "Don't cry. Maybe one day someone will make you princess, too. You should just help me be beautiful. And the Princess gets a puppy, too, so you can play with my puppy, too." (out comes one of the numerous Pet Shop pets from Miss E's pocket. Note to self: clean out kids' pockets before doing laundry)

Redirecting her attention to me, "Mommy, we need more boy-dolls. There aren't enough to go around and the girls are going to start fighting over Prince Eric."

My final thought:
Doll World doesn't appear to be that far removed from Real World.

funny in so many ways. She needs a GI Joe. ;)

Too funny! I don't know how you keep from bursting out laughing, because I probably wouldn't be able to stop.

Yes, more boy dolls are clearly called for. That is easier to fix than the real world problem. ;-)

they both crack me up all the time. And I have become pretty good at biting my lip.

I've been thinking of making a period pair of ladies trews to wear on my head. heh. Or maybe host a 'funny hat' party at A&S as inspired by Miss E's creativity.

OK, that is so fabulous I want to call my sweetie and read it to him. I especially like the underwear-as-crown part (which points my brain is *so* many funny and disturbing directions... ;-) ).

Almost makes you want to go "moo" doesn't it?

I don't normally lock my posts because I figure once it's up here it's "out there".

I love it. It sounds so reminiscent of the play talk I hear from CJ.

And it sums up so nicely...

Isn't the mind of a child so profound?

"Don't cry. Maybe one day someone will make you princess, too. You should just help me be beautiful."
