I think I need to take in some calories while I'm doing this, but not sure if it should be carbs or protein. Anyone reading this who might have feeback?

Gels worked well for me during my training and my triathlon - one 15 minutes before starting and then one every 45 minutes to an hour during. I believe that carbs is what you want during the period of physical activity, protein is for recovery.
