Pitchfork War
Aug. 21st, 2005 04:27 pmYesterday's war was fun. I did the math and I think it was the first time I've been on a warfield (not a practice war field) since I got pregnant in 2000.
It was lots of fun. I made one MAJOR miscalculation. I was contemplating my armor and decided that although I had little armor on my backside, I'd be fine at the war. What are the odds I'd get wrapped in a melee?
Silly me. It was a small war, so there was lots of running, leaping and WRAPPING. My first death was from a wrap to the upper rear/hip from Geoffrey of Griffinhold. It's swollen and larger than my hand and fingers. I "uffed" pretty loud when he got me (according to someone 30 ft away) and I lay there on the ground reflecting on my own folly. Ah, well. I seemed to have spent the entire day being struck in my unarmored spots. I'm fairly bruised today - arms, legs, back, hip, neck, wrist ... I'll need to wear long sleeves and a turtle neck to work this week otherwise someone might think my spouse beats me.
It was great fun. I quit war fighting after 2/3 or more through the day; the foot was done with the leaping, running, charges, and presses.
sirst finished wrangling on the war field and then we went off to do some one on one. That was lots of fun and he had some very encouraging words. His wife marshalled us and she was funny with her observations as only she knows how to be.
I finished and turned over the tunic to CL today. yay. One more thing off my back. She gave me some embroidery books and I had to rush them in the house and put them away immediately otherwise I'd be flipping through them and not finishing chores.
Next: log off and finish sorting through Collegium handouts and releases so I can turn them over to the spouse, who will do the magic to make them pretty. I have some Cashew Brittle from Grand Ave to keep me company while I do this and it's absolutely yummy. Now I know I'll have to make some this year for the holidays.
