'alo? Is it Tuesday yet?
Jul. 23rd, 2007 10:02 pmWhat a wretched weekend. Followed by a fabulous Monday wherein I was diagnosed with Strept Throat, Nicholas was diagnosed with Strept throat, Evie's vomitting had ceased, but she was prescribed with anti-biotics just cuz she was in close contact with 2 carriers...
But it's all good. Monday mostly made up for it.
( I feel like I'm owed a weekend; sick-a-palooza and vomit-fest- cut to protect you from ickiness and misery )
And then it was Monday. Where the fuck did my weekend go? Grump!
But Monday has been pretty good all-around.
Illness Summary: the whole family is on anti-biotics, but we should all be non-contagious by tomorrow morning. N and I are the only official sick ones, but there's all sorts of family exposure and we've had strept several times in the last 6 months, time to squash it all the way.
Why Monday was Grand:
Based on the weekend sick-a-palooza and vomit-fest, the kids were not going to school. However, they were not going to have a day of lolling in front of the TV either. There was 45 minutes of Transformers as I got my butt in motion in the morning, but that was it.
When I woke up I could barely swallow and breathing was painful. I called work to say I was staying home sick and could barely leave the message. That always makes me feel guilty. I never got a call back from my doctor in response to my "Help, I'm sick, can I come in today?" That's probably the only downer of the day.
We got squeezed in at the kids' doctors' office early. And "I'm a lucky duck" cuz the pediatrian who was checking out the kids was willing to do a throat culture on me and wangled prescribing me anti-biotics. Yay! I love kids' doctors! They freaking rock.
Then I purged the garage of baby-gorp (*foot note - anyone need baby stuff?), the kids folded and put away laundry, we ran errands, I dropped stuff off at Thrift store, did a bit of grocery shopping, took kids to pool for a bit over an hour (beautiful day out), went to the speicalist for pre-op for Nicholas (tonsil-adnoid surgery in August), back to home where I _finally_ made chili verde recipe (needs salt, but very zippy), the kids had a picnic dinner outside and they chose their food (chicken strips, watermelon, grapes), we painted a picture together, we did "homework" (mommy-enforced phonics so that N is ready for 1st grade; N blew me away with his math skills and E rocked me with her counting and ABCs... freaking WOW!!!), they had ice cream cones while I cleaned up dinner, then we piled into N's bed for story: The Steadfast Tin Soldier. (I actually cried at one point. I'm such a softie.)
Mommy-hood rocks. Mommy-hood when I'm feeling good rocks more better.
*I have a highchair that collapses/folds up. I have a couple of baby booster seats with tray and seat-belts; one is pretty good and the other is older and I wouldn't use it for a baby, but as a booster for a toddler, I think it's fine. I have a Hex yard thing - plastic segments that snap together to enclose your kid or small pet. We have 6-10 segments; great for tourney use or to protected the home electronics from kids/small dogs. we have I new-ish umbrella stroller; I don't think it's ever been used, but it may have been used 2x at the mall. I have a porta-crib - folds up - great for tourney use. I want to get rid of these asap and feel terrible that I'll have to send them to land fill. Goodwill/Thrift will NOT take them; legal issues. The consignment store was too snooty. if it's gear and it looks worn, they won't touch it; they also insist that I make an appointment. I hates them, I do.
If you want it, let me know. I'll even bring stuff to A&S to keep it out of landfill.
