Awesomeness Workout
Apr. 30th, 2008 12:58 amI swim, but I am not a swimmer.
I bike, but I am not a cyclist.
I run. I am a runner. It feels good, I feel free and unfettered when I'm doing it, and I can find reserves when I think I'm done.
A year ago I could barely run for 2 minutes without feeling like I had to fall down and die. I'd dropped a ton of weight, but the body of mechanics of running were painful and my lungs advised me to stick with the stair stepper. Tonight's workout made me own that I am a runner. Wheeee! I am a runner.
Tonight I biked for 20 minutes at elevated pace and difficulty. Then I stepped on my baby, the treadmill.
I spent 5 minutes ramping up from 6.3 mph to 6.7 mph (8:57 min/mi). I held that for 5 minutes. Then I pushed it to 7.0 mph (8:34 min/mi) for 15 minutes, which is fastah-than-evah for me! Then, with a stitch in my gut, I slowed down to 6.7 mph for the next 14 minutes, which was annoyingly painful, but not a show stopper. Then I spent the next 2 min ramping up to my sprint, where I held 8.5 mph for a minute.
Yup, I feel pretty unstoppable. The reality is, I'm not breaking any records except for personal records, but it sure does feel good.
