More 12th Night Gushing
Jan. 12th, 2010 10:36 amOther highlights:
-getting dressed with a bunch of teens Saturday morning. High-Stair-ical
-Aurelia's dress. I'm so glad she said "Hen-ree-shen" to me because I've read the word and never said it, so I'm sure I'd have misprounounced it. Anyway, she was HAWT. When she got called up to receive her golden poppy award and the king asked her to do a little twirl, I leaned over to Donata and sang, 'I'm too sexy for my tudor, too sexy for my tudor, too sexy ba-by!'
-getting professional portraits with my family.
-I still have images of all the beautiful Venetian ladies in my head. And they were so perfect in their outfits. V and S had great hair and I specifically recall V's great make-up. Because they are a bit shorter than me, I kept thinking they were like beautiful, delicate porcelain dolls while I was some battle ship with radar on my head. I think they may have intimidated me out of doing Venetian because they do it so well. I wonder if ladies under 5'6" realize they can affect those of us over 5'6" that way.
-The duchess' ball - I visited for a while. It was loverly. I didn't realize there was the opportunity to learn to dance as well. Kudos to one and all.
-talking with Juana in the hall.
-meeting Muriel for the first time (Leon's lady). I'm such a lame-o about names and faces, I may need to meet her 2-3 more times for the first time before it sticks.
-Seeing Gillian wreathed in smiles. ... Wait! She's ALWAYS smiling. I guess I just enjoy it everytime.
-Brion/Marguerite's son, Noah, singing the muppet song while leading daddy by the hand through the A&S area in their drop-dead gorgeous 15th century clothing. Wowsa! Not only are they a gorgeous family, you can't pay kids to be that cute.
-Hanging with my girlfriend in her coral-beaded and spangled gollar at the A&S table. You've come a long way, Baby!
-Artistic kudos from people I respect. Being told by one of my all-time heroes in embroidery, a person who's taught me and who sets a bench-mark of excellence as a person and an artist, a person with the experience and knowledge to have an opinion I respect, that my sleeves are a master work rung my bell. When I talk to my students about goals, it's never about SCA accolades, instead it's about earning the respect of those whom you look up to as role models. I will never forget her words because they went straight into my heart (not my ego! lol).
