Someone nearby has a similar frequency to my remote control because it keeps randomly turning on and off.
I've run into a similar problem with my wireless doorbell. There have been a couple of times when the doorbell has rung at very odd hours with nobody at the door (and nobody coming up the steps, which are resonant enough that I'm seldom surprised by a genuine doorbell-ring). My tentative hypothesis is that my doorbell uses the same frequency as some neighborhood visitor's car-door opener. If it were an actual neighbor's, I'd expect the bell to ring more often.
