The "Pumpkin-ade" party was fun. I.E. F still in cast and can't really travel and on the heals of 3+ weeks of isolation, we invited our friends to bring their kids over for a small Halloween celebration on Saturday. Making Pumpkin-ade out of pumpkins.
Turns out we threw the Pre-Party for Meadhbh's halloween party, too! The parents all decided the day before that they wanted to hang out for the dinner part, so we had a little merry taco fiesta where the adults out-numbered the kids. Eventually most of the parents left, seeking merriment with other like-dressed adults and we had our own good time.
The flashlight treasure hunt was HYSTERICAL. We watched the kids breeze right past treasures at eye-level because they were inspecting the ground so carefully. I couldn't stop laughing. Definitely a keeper.
The kids played flash-light tag for a bit after that. Then I sugared them up with naked cup-cakes, for which they got a bowl of frosting, marshmallows and candy to decorate. I demo'd a skelleton, but they were all intent on their own creativity. Then more games. Then movies. Movies with Bad-A$$ bad guys... "Star Dust" and "The GhostRider". spoooooky! (Miss E actually hid in our room when Ghostrider came on)
The kids all got spooky prizes with the treasure hunt, including super-balls decorated to look like crazy eye-balls. Those things were zinging around the place all night. For a bit the boys were all camped out on the stairway landing playing cards.
Once the movies came on in the family room, the Cranberry infused Tequila and Settlers of Catan came out for the very patient adults. There was going to be hot-tubbing, but the second Catan game got so "spirited" and everyone was doing so well, it lasted quite long and the hot tub never got cracked. Ah well. I'll have to hot tub for everyone else tonight.
Overall: Mission Accomplished. We all had fun even though we couldn't go anywhere.
I wonder if I can talk the other parents into taking turns hosting this each year?
