My motivating words for today:
I hope everyone's toffee sets! Don't crack yer windshield getting the ice off!
heheheheh! I've been up all night and now I'm at work. I just couldn't wind down and go to sleep. Gack!
Last night I got off work at 4:45, which shaved half an hour off my commute time. (Dang! note to self - start going to bed earlier so we can repeat this slick trick). I picked up kids and grocery shopped. I made dinner. Then I cooked some more for the heck of it ... well, not really. I cooked for the rest of the lunches for this week, which are neatly stacked in plastic ziplock containers in the frig. I burned a batch of toffee. (drat! - that was supposed to be gifties for household). I put the kids to bed, which took almost an hour due to fussing, teeth brushing, and cuddling. I got lured onto the computer by the evil spouse, which normally doesn't keep me awake on its own - I'm very capable of falling asleep at the keyboard while battling bad guys. (heh!) But I didn't fall asleep. I uploaded pictures to Costco photo for Nana for her Christmas cards. I decided to forage ahead with the second batch of toffee (that was 2:30 am). I'm not sure I liked the consistency, but it needs to finish hardening. I finally finished at 3:30 am with toffee and some kitchen-tidying. I tried to lay down and my blood was pumping so fast, I felt like I was vibrating. So I laid there vibrating until 4:15 am, staring at the ceiling and calculating what time I'd get off work if I just got up and drove in.
One hot shower later, here I am. I sort of energy-crashed while I was driving to work, which was hairy. And I seem to be more clumsey than usual. I forsee a nap at lunch time. But right now I'm on my third or fourth wind and ready to dig into my pile of work.
The silver lining? I got to turn on the heat in our trailer before someone else decided to blast the AC(brrrr!). There was light traffic all the way in (although it seems to be heavier at this time than last spring ... memory failure or recovering economy? hmmm). I've got a head start on all sorts of urgent tasks. I'd be off work at 2:30 pm if I didn't have meetings until 4:30, so I'm buggin' out early on Friday. do-dah, do-dah.
Yay! Woot! Happy Wednesday.
