Looking for friend who knows how to swim in open water, has access to open water, and can help me be safe on a wet-suited journey into open water. Soon-ish - like by Feb 12.

I'll rent my own wet-suit.

I have never swam in ocean. Maybe starting with a lake is a better idea, but if it's not a reasonable option, I'll jump in the brine.

I think lakes are less scary. Let me think about where we could go. It will be cold. We need to finalize the 9th too.

The tri club at my old Y used to use Shadows Cliff in the East Bay. Beginner freindly lake was the the description. Have not been there myself, but they were very nice when I had to straighten out some event and insurance foo. Not sure about distance availability and crowds.
