And the sun can come out so we can play
Feb. 4th, 2008 10:43 amI visited Moth-Squire and Greencatmama in Santa Rosa on Sunday.
My brother went with me. We schemed a gift and presented moth-squire with a framed movie poster. Behind the top poster was 2nd poster, so it can be switched out if desired. The brother mounted this on the wall at the foot of Moth Squires bed. Their were tears. It was for Batman 4 and we all agreed that it was a terrible movie, but a very colorful and beautiful movie poster. It was fun to do that. I brought food and cooked dinner. The brother is very "up" on comic stuff, so they kibitzed on comics for a while. Then we played Catan and followed this by watching "Star Dust". I got home around 9:45pm... totally pooped but soooo glad I went. Hubby will probably do next trek up in a month or so and we'll alternate. The program of food, game, and movie seemed to work very well.
Update on Moth Squire:
I joked that moving the pieces around on the Catan board were good fine-motor skill activities. They laughed and agreed; greencatmama mentioned his therapist would be thrilled when they told her. He recently had miso soup and tiny nibbles of sashimi. He can have a teaspoon of yogurt. I was concerned that cooking at their place would be torture for him, but I was given the green light. So he got to suck on some of the steak and pot stickers we made and he might get some of the meat juice as a broth. Playing board games seemed to perk him up mentally; he had to focus on the game because we don't "throw" games. He actually won - stole the win from Bro with a little help from me. muh-ha-ha.. dem's da breaks in Catan, baby! LOL. He talked a lot (IMO), but his voice is low and when he forces volume, slurs a little. He can walk with 2 people assisting him.
That's all that comes to mind on his physical status.
They were in good spirits to have friends over. They are lonely, though, and appreciate the messages of love that we sent up, but they'd love visits and calls, too.
The old phone number still quotes the new phone number, so if you want to call, you can call the old number to get the new one.
That's it.
