Fitness blah-g

I got out of work at 7:30. I salute the audit by my German Masters for keeping me at work so late and ruining my life. (okay, that's an exageration, but it sounds good.)
In a fit of, "I am tired of feeling wretched and having no control", I decided to do a mild simulation of my triathalon. Major differences: No swimming and the run was almost flat.
1. life cycle, hill program, 60 minutes:
Achieved 15 miles, 400 cal. Est avg HR = 125 bpm
2. treadmill, 1% incline, variable speed 5.5-6.5 mph + sprint at end, 4 miles:
Finished: 39:30 (min:sec); 590 cal
3. treadmill, 1%-6% incline, variable speed (cool down)2.5-3.5 mph:
10 min, 60 cal, tried to get heart rate down, but it didn't go below 125. (I thought it should go below 120?)
4. Total: Bike 15 mile. Run 4 mile. Walk 1 mile. Total calories: 1000+
Areas to target:
1. Drink water. Leaving water bottle behind was a bad miss. My only water was in the pause between bike and run.
2. I need to start xperimenting w/ energy boost stuff, like Goo. The engine needs calories that are easy to disgest and absorb.
3. My legs felt mostly okay. Insides of claves were sore for first 10 min of run, like when I push too hard. After that, though, they felt fine.
4. Speed: I was hoping the run would be faster, but that's all I had in me. I'll be curious to see what I do when I'm hydrated and fueled the whole time.
5. Mental Stamina: I need to work on this. My brain was begging for it to be over even though my legs were still going. I think having water and snack will help with this. What was useful was that I kept reminding myself that my legs were good and my hips/glutes were good, so there was no reason to stop. I think that might have been the exhaustion. I also started playing mental stamina games with the odometer so that I have some tools for the race.
6. To be repeated in a few weeks. Interval training on the run between now and then.
Despite all of my areas for improvement, I'm pleased that I didn't give in to the internal whiney voice that was begging me to quit; I dug down and pulled it out despite no water or calorie boosts. I'm bummed I wasn't faster, but I've got almost 3 months to work on that.
