What a fabulous weekend!!!

Saturday - go to gym and "do it". Make saving throw against old geezers and DVC wanna-be atheletes. (I have a rant building up). Then run errands and scoot home, finding out my mom arrived 10 minutes before me and N is showing her the story he wrote and illustrated. While I unpack my car, I also get to watch the hubby and E test some of air-soft cross bow thing in the front yard. They were both laughing like maniacs.

yay! And it was only Noon.

We raced through our chores, I helped the kids with theirs, I shovelled laundry from washer to dryer to sofa (put kids to work folding) and then announced that for lunch we will be walking to the park. yay! Kids start bouncing around the place like super-balls. I pumped up tires on N's bike, fished out stroller from garage of Doom(!), and kids and mom and I headed down to Todos Santos.

The hubby met up with us for sandwiches (he had a few things to finish and planned to run errands after lunch, so he drove down). After lunch we cruised over to the play structure and lapped up the sunshine while the kids raced about. HawKGirl and her blonde imp (Hawklad?) joined us at the park after their nap and N and E were very good at keeping an eye on him. I got to be the tickle monster and chase them up the ladders and down the slides.

We concocted a dinner plan and HawkGirl and HawkLad joined us for dinner. Stuffed pork loin, brussel sprouts with bacon, nummy garlic bread, cous cous, baby carrots (which my kids will actually eat), ...mmm... it was all good. My mom, being a saint, offered to watch the kids, so HawkGirl and I went to see "Penelope" (Cristina Ricci) and laughed our butts off. It was totally cute. How many ways can you sing "You are my sunshine" off key? hahaha!

It was freaking fantastic day. Exactly the sort of day I love doing something I love with my family.

And then there was a time change. Why-o-why did I stay up so late? I got 4 hrs of sleep and totally skipped my spinning class to get the 4 hrs instead of 3 hrs. Stupid back log of CSI episodes! I'm sure it was a TV thing.

Sunday was nice and slow. I gathered the troops for mass (interesting sermon on "Super Volunteers" and how that's not necessarily a good thing.. lots of food for thought), it was E's turn to bring snack and drink to her preschool group, and afterwards Knights-of-Columbus had one of their pancake fund-raisers. My mom got a kick out of it. I think she really enjoys seeing how active this parish is and how many senior citizen programs and how many community out-reach programs they have. I know that I like the community orientation.

There was an interesting incident during our pancake fest. Someone apparently snuck in without paying and was parked next to me with food in her mouth when the elderly KoC volunteer confronted her. Visually, it's two little old ladies confronting each other, which can be kind of odd to see. And then there's the theme: On the one-hand KoC is doing this fundraiser for the seniors in the community and here's this senior who's clearly in need. However, the KoC volunteer totally confronts the senior over not paying the $4 for pancakes and eggs. The confrontation seemed to me to undermine the intent of the fundraiser. On my way out, I made an extra donation to cover the woman.

The rest of the day was spent at a friends house for a kiddie party. There was a jump house and I LOVE jump houses. I like being a parent because I can kind of camoflages how much I love jump houses as "oh, well I need to be in here to play with my kids because I'm a hands-on parent." So I was the monster and all the kids ganged up on me or went screaming en masse as I roared and lunged to tickle. And I jump-jump-jumped. Since it was a kiddie party and I am on the fence about healthy eating, and there were cookies... um.. yeah. my ultimate doom. Sigh. I think I blew the rest of my weekly 35 pts on those ultra-yummy indulgent cookies. Nummy!

I didn't get the troops home until 8pm, so they got showers and tucked in. And I decided to skip my workout to hang out with the hubby. He just wanted to play CoH with me and hang out and chat... how nice. And since I was still limping from Saturday's work out... yeah. I'm such a push over. I made a mental note to go running at lunch on Monday and then I logged on.

Sadly, I ventured into the Corbie Cave when I was done w/ CoH. I popped in Babylon 5, pulled out my project d'jour, and suddenly it was 1:30 am. Jeez! But I had to finish watching the episode I was on; D'Linn out-manuevered her opponent of the Warrior Caste and she stepped into the star wheel light. It was so cool. And Bestor seems to be running a game on Garibaldi (Private I). And Leeta is now working for the Corp again. Who would have walked away from the middle of that episode? I did not have the strength of will. So I crawled in bed at 2am. sigh.

On the other hand, my project d'jour got some loving attention. I'm piecing together some gold/red shot dupioni for a skirt on a dress. I have only "Just so much" and it was previously cut up into something else. So I was flexing my mad-math and geometry skills. woot woot.

What a wonderful weekend! Made me smile while I read your post, thanks! :)

Scott had a snow day on Saturday so we stayed in and hung out. We attempted to go out and play in it but my ankle was too weak still to playing around in the snow. I managed to clear off the car b/c I was determined to at least do something in the snow, lol. Sunday I spent cleaning, talk about fun LOL
