Results are up!!! I was 2:17 (hr/min). Take the flat out, and I come close to making my estimated time goal of 2 hrs... and that's including the transitions. Yay! (link to race below; I'm #569)

With tire blow out, riding 2 miles on a flat, and getting my road-side heroes to change my flat, I was #354 overall and #26 in my age group! I was less than 30 seconds behind the person who beat me! Without the flat I might have placed in the #250-280 range overall and in the top 15 in my age group! Knock me over with a feather!

SCREAM!!!!

Hell yeah I'm doing this again!!!!

The boss was about 15 minutes ahead of me. Holy Cow! Take that flat out of the picture and I was hot on his heals... I'm totally thinking rematch! And on the heals of that thought, telling myself to settle down and do some training. He did beat me by 5 minutes on the run... how the hell did that happen? Hmm.. oh right! I was training to fail. New training plan AND I'm armed with a new book as of last night on tris for women... Rawr! I'm already reading it. Muh-ha-ha...

Ho-boy! I'm totally jiggy!

What's worse than a flat tire? a flat tire and fire ants
And in other race tid-bits, here's a bike story: Everyone is cheery on the bike leg, calling out encouragement, exchanging greetings, etc. Apparently my utter excitement and cheeriness at being in the race had me marked as a noob; best reason ever to be noted for being a noob would be eagerness, right? I met Lana on the bike leg and she was very nice and encouraging; she was convinced I'd be hooked like her. When I mentioned my flat and how lucky I felt that the 2-mile road-side heroes helped me, she shared her most recent Triathlon in South Caroline: she got 2 flats and on one of them she knelt in a fire-ant nest. She got bit right away and was very uncomfortable for the rest of the race.

Me: Dang! You win!

And there she was, pedalling along, encouraging me, and congratulating me when I passed her. There's some awesome sportsmanship! I love the triathlon crowd - nothing but encouraging and welcoming!
