I work in a double wide that has a lot of issues.

There's the mold. I don't go out of my way to locate where it is, but the first smell to hit you when you walk into our trailer is the mold.

There are the leaks, which destroyed a lap-top last winter. For 2 years I had puddles of standing water on my desk everytime it rained, but that finally got fixed a year ago.

Last week there was this bird dive-bombing us as we left/enetered our trailer. We assume there was a nest nearby.

This week I've squashed several scout ants traipsing across my work surface.

We had a mouse, to which I wrote an ode. (which still adorns my door)

Today's newest highlight: wasp. It flew in my window (no screen). Flew out. Came back a few minutes later and started investigating nooks and crannies near my ceiling. I closed it in my office and then returned with the deadliest chemical I could find in our trailer: oven/stainless steal cleaner. It was really disappointing that all I did was piss it off and make my office smell lemony. You'd think oven cleaner would be toxic or burn or something. And it chased me after I started spraying, so I zipped out and closed the door. Maybe the lemon scent confused it, but I cracked the door open and peeped in, watching it wobbled out the window. Yay! I slammed the window shut, and make rude gestures at it from the sanctity of my work station as it continues to flutter around the edges of the closed window, trying to get in. I may name it if it doesn't go away. If I'm Super Duper lucky, it will start a nest right outside my window. Given that it took site services 2 years to fix the leak in my window, I don't hold out much hope of getting rid of Local Wasp Family Low Income and Spacious Condos.

And yet, this is the nicest ever work station/office I've ever ever had. I will be sad when I get relocated due to scheduled demolition of the trailer; the powers that be stuck a high-level manager in here for a year. He hated all the deficiencies and it was his laptop that got nuked. After creating a stir, he was relocated to a real building and he bragged about how his parting gift to us was getting rid of the run-down stinky trailer so it could be replaced by a new one.

riiiight. sure. whatever.

What that really means is that folks like me will be shuffled into cubes elsewhere and not get put into the shiney new trailer. The shiney new trailer will be too good for the likes of us. boo hoo. Stupid, helpful managers making me lose my lovely leaky, mold enriched, ant infested, bird attacked, mouse annexed, wasp invaded privacy.

Just me, the flora and the fauna. Helpful managers not welcome.
