An Ideal Husband

threadwalkerwas good last night at Cal Shakes. Of course it was. I love their series. And Oscar Wilde is hysterical. (although I wonder what the reference to 7-3/4 glove size meant... we all shrugged at each other... need to do some homework on that one). It's my quarterly dose of culture. Yay me! I'm out of the petri dish.
It was cold, tho. It's an outdoor ampitheater and the play ran from 7:30 to 10:30ish, but it wasn't this cold last year at this time. During the second half I noticed the mist up near the stage light... brrrrr.....During intermission I think I did 2 mighty leaps from our far corner of the ampitheater to the blanket bin at the entrance. I got mine. Then I got coffee (big mistake! up all night!) and then went back to my seat to settle in.
On the other hand, up all night = all laundry done. Not folded - kids will get to help tonight, but all washed/dried/dumped on sofa. They freaked this morning when they saw the sofa because they KNOW what piles of laundry means. LOL.
Trunk sale tomorrow. Crying like a baby forecast for late Saturday or Sunday morning. Every one of those outfits was a journey of discovery where I came up with some new technique and had an "ah-ha!" moment. Most of them spawned a workshop afterwards. I can't look at them without seeing the decisions I made or the "ah-ha!"s or the workshops that followed or the friendships forged over the results of teaching others to make something similar. So much of my personal history is part of each one.
Ha - costumes with history. sounds lame. I know, "boo hoo, suck it up." Stop whining.
Fortunately, I'm going to JZ's for a sewing play date on Sunday. Her house is a "project".. sawdust everywhere, so I'm not taking Robin's dress; I wouldn't want to cry all over her dress and get wet sawdust stuck to it anyway.. how would I explain that!!! Instead I'm starting a gambeseon for myself. I've never made one for me before. I'm hoping for some sort of emotional renewal - letting go of my past and forging ahead into my future. I know it's been very very hard to make anything new.
Growth hurts. Letting go hurts. Moving on hurts. I guess it's good character development.
ok - done whining.
I can also "see" my next several projects waiting to start. Cranberry linen. Deep sage green linen. Chocolate wool. ... kirtles, Flemish market woman, visions of Lucas van Leyden... Can't wait to get this trunk sale done. I may just burn everything that doesn't get picked up at the trunk sale. Rise from the ashes and all that. No looking back. I'll need something other than gasoline, though. The price of gas is insane.
