Yeah.. that's my road bike. She's blue in color, but happy in spirit.

While the dirty Half Dozen were watching Incredibles tonight and between bouts of rocking Connor (the 2 year old who climbed in my arms and zonked out - see, I'm nurturing!!! someone said I wasn't.. need to share the Connor story w/ them), I pulled my bike into kitchen w/ bag of upgrades and gadgets. Yay! finally... add a screw driver and I made some happy bike stuff happen.

1. I got tri-bars put on tonight. It didn't go so well at first. [livejournal.com profile] ermine_rat and his lovely wife, Hawk Girl, were over (picking up Hawk Lad) when I thought I had wrong size tri-bars. I swore a lot; I no longer have receipt and it was (IMO) a spendy upgrade. It was spendy for me, anyway. F starts cracking funny and I said, calmly, "You have a choice. You can either be quietly supportive and possibly express sympathy or continue as you are and, keeping in mind I'm pissed off, you get what you get." He did a dramatic "hang head" thang, looked to [profile] ermine_rat for sympathy and said he was sympathetic. So cute. Good thing. I was still pretty steamed. However, I figured out I'd missed some parts to tighten up the tri-bars a while later. (why, oh WHY? don't I read the stinking directions? sometimes I'm as bad as a guy!)

2. New head lamp. The sun is not up before 5 am and I've been hitting the road that early, so this is a necessary safety measure. However, since I put the tri-bars on, new head lamp didn't fit around tri-bars on handle bars, so I put it ON tri-bars. It looks funny. honestly... just don't care. works for me and I'll be able to see road.

3. New tail light. Old one was probably original and was busted beyond recovery.

4. New computer. Well, I pulled it out, surveyed all the parts and pieces, saw the pages and pages of directions on how to install, and my brian melted. I put it all in a baggie and I saved it for another day.

5. Current tempermental computer: like the light, has no "spot" on the handle bars. Where the fuck to do the pros put their shit? I mean... seriously! It just does not fit... put it over the taped handle bars? on the tri-bars? right now, it's sitting on tri-bars while I contemplate this. Very vexing. Truly!! Grrr..

6. New pump. the old one contributed to a busted tube-needle. New one will not have same problem. Just need to install holder.

7. 2 new water bottles. "Someone" cleaned the house and my water bottles are AWOL. I've searched high and low... oh well

8. Not yet arrived: Shimano pedals. Woot Woot! Wide base, Look/Shimano pattern, low weight (340gm/pair) and included cleats. These cost half my trunk money. Ouch!

9. Not yet arrived: new bike shoes. Sidi 2008 for women.. can't wait. The other half of my trunk money. But they should f-ing rock! Tri-bike shoes (no need socks), reduced hot spots, cooling, good power transfer... Can't wait... gimme gimme gimme! I shouldn't need another pair for quite a long while; like years and years and years.

My brother's favorite place in the world is Cambria Bicycle Outfitters (CBO) and you can find them online. I personally like their customer service.
