A much less exciting (and ranty) post but (IMO) of more significant interest to me.

I am now coaching 1 person for running and a 2nd wants to set something up with me so she can do a sprint triathlon next spring.

This is about 5 years or more ahead of schedule, but there it is.

How bizarre. I'm bemused, amused and confused. Where is my Muse?

Is there a camera around the doorway with a spokesman ready to jump out?

In my defense, which I feel I must turn to immediately given my astounding lack of credentials and certifications, they are just beginning and I am pretty sure I can help beginners. Plus, no one is giving me money; I can always fall back on "you get what you pay for". However, I don't think it will be that bad.

My first victim has been getting verbal advice from me for about 2 months and has progressed from couch potato to running for 25 minutes straight without dying, so clearly I can claim I haven't killed anyone yet. However, he wants to progress faster and suspects he is not pushing himself hard enough on his home-treadmill, so we are going to start a weekly training session in 2 weeks. We'll meet at 5pm and jog the (flat!) trail near my house. I am fairly confident that with my running background and experience, I can recognize gross issues with running form. I'm also currently faster than him, so I'm in a good position to dial it back in order to help him. I'm also very familiar with running drills and training even if I don't force myself to do them all. (Which may change now that I have to show someone what I'm talking about, so this might be great timing for my personal development).

My second victim just approached me today and is hyper-excited. More planning needs to happen, but I forsee another weekly or bi-weekly session starting up. She wants to do a sprint tri next spring; a 'not scary' one. She's so cute. I'm fairly well read on drills and training programs at this point, so I'm pretty sure I can help her pick a race and then "co-train" with her to get her to the point where she can finish a sprint tri with comfort. I'm not claiming I can help Victim 2 be a great triathlete, but I can help her work up to completing one without hurting herself.

My plans to take over the world seem to be ahead of schedule. Go me!
