Submersed in my world lately.

Me, Thursday afternoon to my boss, "I think I'm being underutilized. I have bandwidth to do more." Realize, I fear our new director and need to be seen as a contributor. He's a hard-ass and I really do feel like I'm not pulling my weight lately.

We assign me some stuff and half of it is even interesting. Most of it will kick-start next week...

Then there was today. I spent today racing from meeting to desk to meeting to desk. The boss has delegated some stuff to his under-utilized staff member. I was repeatedly on the wrong end of someone else's jabby-pointy finger and shrill impatience. Fortunately for me, I'm adorned in teflon armor and clearly deflected responsibility to the real responsible party. (whew!) Then I was creating a "to do" list of Seriously Important Stuff (SIS) for our group. I spent the day in high gear. No time for potty breaks. So desparate for lunch off site, I rolled a natural 20 three times in a row and scored JZ AND HRJ AND sushi for lunch. T-F-G! Back to work and dragging SIS-report from meeting to meeting and working on it between and during meetings so that I can post a schedule of SIS that will be due each day next week. Got real live pat on the back from boss. (gosh, boss, it's what I do best...)

On my way to meet the family after work at the school carnival, I'm falling asleep behind wheel. I don't have much left, but I have enough for my volunteer stint at the kids' carnival fundraiser and then to putter around with the family for a few hours doing carnie games and eating hot dogs.

Tired. Ragged. Fragged. I think I chose all this. ... I sense a hot tub in my near future and a nice long run in the morning after I've had a solid night's sleep.
