The Day After
May. 14th, 2006 11:40 pmI'm in much better shape today than I was the last each of the previoius "day afters". I've no idea why.
The event seemed to go very well despite my blatant miscalculation on time in the AM. Why did I think that leaving the house in Sac at 7:30 would get us there by 7:30? It still boggles me that at 6am, that made sense. I really liked the site. Very charming. I hope we go back.
Anyway, we got there and there was a small crowd forming. D'Salia had teacher's point up in no time. (whoop!) I suspect I owe her a day at the spa. Maybe I owe us both a day at the spa.
The deputy came. I introduced him around and had him stationed at teachers' point most of the day. I hope more people will come forth to help him. He's very excited, he has experience from another kingdom, and I think it's a great opportunity for someone else to put their spin on the event. He's really upbeat and I think he will listen to people's input.
I wasn't sure if I'd be able to let go easily, but I think I've been preparing to let go for the last year. So I've got no regrets and I'm not feeling "graspy" about it. And I'm proud of the level of organization I got in place; event pre-reg, organized teacher's point, and the CD fundraising. I think the CD was one of my best "inspired ideas" over the last few years.
So - now what? I'm putting together all my site notes for my deputy and all the electronic records I created. I kept a record of everyone who taught as well as everyone I invited to teach. I kept a list of the volunteers and I have electronic files for every scrap of paper I generated. I'm going to harrass the teachers who promised handouts and still need to send them electronically. And then that's it.
Next up: I've been recruited to help with a rush hand-work project. And I have a whole lotta sewing to do that has stacked up over the last 2 years.
