Pressure...

So much pressure.
1. Near Death Experience. (AKA "Death Camp" per one comedian at fighter practice). We're going to Tahoe on Wednesday so I can do high altitude biking through Sunday. Yay + fear = omg! Q: Am I ready? Answer: No. Q: Do I care? Answer: maybe a little. Q: Am I excited? A: Hell yeah!
2. Sewing. It all good. Plunking along on some stuff I want for June Crown - linen undies for lounging around before/after fighting. I'm using left over linen bits to make a shirt and "shorts". My OCD is vexed that the pieces aren't all the same weight and I keep reminding myself it's all good - I'll be sweating in it, so frugal is good! I'm still compulsively hand-turning the raw seam edges. Cuz it's my disease.
3. Work. Drama. I made a call, my bosses backed me up, and now the dogs of war have been unleashed. I have to say, I slid right out of "cheerful to be here doing my job" and into "audit-mode/poker face; show me the data that supports your conclusions" within minutes. Yay for me.
4. Calendar. The calendar has been booked almost solid since Easter. Our first "free" weekend is the last weekend of June. So far I've pulled some fancy slight-of-hand and the husband hasn't picked up on how busy we are. Probably since I'm doing more running around than him. But still... And since I wasn't busy enough, I got tickets to see Jewel in July. Yay! I love live performance! But maybe I shouldn't have booked something so soon...
5. Tri+ Knee. In 2 weeks I enter the 12-week training window for my next triathlon -mid-September in Pacific Grove. woot. The knee is not all the way back in shape. Running is harder than biking. I am up to 4 miles at gentle jog, but I stop and walk when I get impact-related pain.
On the other hand, the kids continue to crack me up and make me proud. The only pressure there is the pressure I put on myself.
Upon arriving at Erinwood, I inform them we will make a round of "hello's" before we set up camp.
Miss E, "But I'm shy. Do I have to talk to everyone?"
Super N, "E, you just need to face your fears."
It's so hard to keep the laughter on the inside when I hear the wisdom they share back and forth.
We watched some friend's kids on Friday and my kids were great hosts. Miss E was enchanted with the 2 yr old and they played for hours. (She informed me she wants a baby sister. har har har... so easy to want but very hard to live with).
We went to a BBQ on Saturday and they wow-ed the non-parents in the crowd by heeding me when I said "no" to more cookies. And they played really great with the host's kids, too. Super N once again organizing games all the kids could play. It's so interesting to watch him develop self-confidence.
