Countess Kick-Ass shared one of her rules: she doesn't want to know more than 10% of people's personal lives and with that in mind, they will all get along.

What a wonderful rule. And with new people I don't know, I observe the 10% rule. In fact, with me it's probably closer to the 5% rule. Unfortunately, I seem switch to 90% as soon as I decide someone is trust-worthy and they start sharing their own stories. Trust begets trust; blackmail begets blackmail and all that. Add strawberry daquries and "pow".

There were a lot of skeletons on the card table Saturday night. And, hysterically, they weren't all mine. (whew!) In fact, I'd forgotten all about all sorts of stuff until D'Salai started sharing "our" adventures.

The odd part was that we've been friends for so long and done so much stuff together that we really have quite a few "no shit, there we were" stories. It's kind of cool. And scary because she can't tell her stories without implicating me.

And someone just e-mailed me asking me how drunk I was. I don't remember being quite so drunk as they imply, but maybe that's a sign of how much I didn't remember drinking from the skull mug. Or maybe a sign of how long it's been since they've seen me. Or (per fighter chick) how long it's been since I've had a drink in public. I definitely embrace life a lot more now than I did 10 years ago - loss will do that to ya. I worry a lot less about what people think of me or whether the laundry is folded and put in exactly the right drawer. Life is too short to get hung up over some stuff. Heck - last year I was autocratting collegium and during the feast I was walking around marshalling orders while simultaneously nursing. I would have never predicted that happening until it did and it was very out of character for me, but there it is.

Life should be celebrated. The strawberries are in season, the weather is grand and good friends are in town, thus merriment should follow. Tra-La!

Besides, I was sober enough to win the mid-night Catan game with Vic (who'd been napping and thus well rested) and Jeff, who was drinking cola so probably more sober than me. Arrrrr!

Okay, so now I need details of the night I missed!!

By the way, at 8:00 I realized that I had forgotten to call you and let you know we wouldn't make it. By then, I figure you had already figured that out. ;)

Arrrr!

Arrrr! 'tis the pirates oath. No skeletons in the day light.

Besides, being as this is a printable, forwardable, and repeatable forum, I am so NOT interested in writing down anything that could be shown to my kids in 10 years.

There were many witnesses Saturday night. D'Salai, Fighter Chick, Blacksword, Stan, Jeff ... You will have to ply us Saturday night. I think part of the trick is we were playing Gloom, which encourages story telling.

I love Gloom! I had so much fun playing that Mem weekend.

And silly [livejournal.com profile] thread_walker, I wasn't suggesting that you lay yourself open here. ;~P

I promise I won't share anything I heard Sat. night. ;) Besides, I did my share of storytelling...
