Meat Soup

Miss E is bouncing back. She is complaining of tummy pain, though. Perhaps it's hunger, since she's only had 1-1/2 pieces of toast and 20 cheerios since Friday morning. I started her on beef broth today, calling it "meat soup". She's very unthrilled and is trying to resist me. She keeps losing.

She complains of pain in her waist, but she doesn't want to do go to the Doctor's and therefore claims it's a small amount of pain. I comment that if it's bad enough to cause the constant whining and crying I've been subjected to, we are going to the doctors. Then we stare at each other. I can't help noticing that she has a really cute little chin and the freckles on her nose are adorable.

We continue to stare.

I finally comment, "Too bad I can't see inside you to see what's bothering you."

She replies, "oh mommy! Only Superman can do that."

I nod back at her, trying to not laugh. She is wise beyond her years.

She then continues, "I wish you were Super Girl."

Thinking of Super Girls ab muscles, I agreed with her.

Then I offer the meat soup. It's that or the Doctor's office. She caves, washing meat soup down with water.

She reminds me of her father. Stubborn to the very end. His chin is cute, too. And he has freckles on his nose.

Glad she's feeling better!

You take me back about 40 years. Our get well food was well cooked oatmeal gruel with lots of egg stirred into it. I flavored it with a bit of maple syrup and they seemed to like it.

I think oatmeal would result in knock-down drag out war. I can't get it into either kid short of pinning them down and force-feeding them.

This morning she ate 1 cup of dry cheerios. There's no fever and she hasn't vomitted since yesterday. Yay! I think I'm going to give her banana and toast for lunch. Maybe more "meat soup". LOL.

And we both slept in our own beds last night. My back is very very grateful. I feel like a new person... Funny how getting some sleep can turn the world around.

We usually got 7up/ginger ail (which helps restore the stomach's balance and makes the stomach pain and nausea go away ASAP), chicken soup (which does seem to heal the stomach and go through the digestive system as smoothly as possible), and saltines (which also calm the stomach). Once we were on the mend we would even get noodles in the chicken soup.

When I had my surgery and the hospital couldn't figure out how to provide vegetarian food (no, jello is not vegetarian, even if it is fruit flavored; nor is beef stew, not even if you pick out the pieces of meat) Tom would go home and make me vegetarian chicken broth. I'm not sure if it is the salt content, or what, but it sure calms the stomach, even with fake broth! :-)

I also still use saltines when my stomach is bothering me, and it frequently does help.

I'm glad she's better and that you have the luxury of sleeping in your own bed.
