(Project Blog)
Okay, it’s been 5 days since the mantles were presented and I am utterly rudderless with no schedule or goals or due dates. I almost feel like I have too much time on my hands, which I KNOW is impossible because I’m so tired. Enough sitting around on my butt and reading non-productive detective fiction. Time to get back to the gym and to set up my project schedule. I sometimes wonder if my totem is a shark; they suffocate if they stop moving and I usually feel the same way.
Firstly, this weekend is all about ME and sewing for me and spending time doing stuff for me … thus, in order of priority:
Art
1. 15th century Italian dress out of red linen – machine work
2. 15th c. Italian over robe from heavy gold, cut velvet – machine work
3. Red Dress – hand work
4. Finish Linen chemise that was started last year.
Service:
Nothing!!!
Due: A&S
Art
1. Finish the Italian Ensemble started 4th July weekend (handwork mostly)
2. Embroidery for Unkindness of Ravens
leofwine
3. Improve pavilion annex (easy-shmeazy)
4. Shelves for pavilion (to be assigned to Unka)
5. Token for sojourner artisan,
fighter_chick: I’ve been waffling about this token for almost a year and I just need to come to some decisions. My priority is to make something that is “field proof”, that is a suitable symbol of art and might somehow display my badge. However, my badge is less important than “can be hit by rattan and will probably survive”. I’m no longer trying to figure out how to make it pretty, just durable so she can wear it when she’s fighting. And I’ve nixxed the idea of making two tokens, a field and a dress token. My brain was running in all sorts of fun, time-consuming and “not to be hit by rattan” directions. That’s just not practical and I need to keep in mind that I want it to be suited for the field. The only question is … just how silly should it NOT be …
6. Belt for apprentice/protege,
beanolc: decide on design, technique and warp loom. This will probably be time-consuming and it’s not portable to work. Completion date will depend on where I am by Oct. Crown. Collingwood, here I come!
7. Drape Kira.
Service:
1. Site for Collegium
2. First Page Copy with location and contact details
3. Roughing out teachers and feast entertainment (Feast-o-crat is already on board)
4. Contact Collegium Caidus and see about networking with them
5. Work on getting volunteers to help with A&S display, etc.
Due by Griffin War/Pitchfork War
Art:
1. Field garb (based on not having any for the last war)
2. German for Unka: make pants and shirt
3. Leash for CL: Warp loom. (I’ve got two of them, the 3yard one and the 10 yard one.)
Service:
1. Recruiting teachers, etc, for Collegium
2. Page Copy for Collegium
3. Verify dates for Collegium, 2006 and start finding sites for both fall and spring
Due by October Crown:
1. Heraldic Surcoat
2. Chemise for Hawk Girl with Italian hem stitching.
3. Work on everything that has fallen behind schedule
4. Opus for D’Salie: figure out a due date based on progress of split stitch to date.
5. Belt for apprentice/protégé,
beanolc: Estimate completion date
6. Kick off next Big Scheme (tm)
7. Dress for Kira

2. Spring Collegium – Confirm/find feast–o–crat

One small note to my sanity-check enforcers (you know who you are): with the exception of Collegium, all these due dates are flexible and can slide around based on my sanity needs. I don't plan on working myself into the ground on any of this. I promise to be a good role model in terms of not making myself sick or insane to complete this stuff.
Ahhh, now that's more like. Lot's to do, lots of deadlines, and a clear idea of what I think I'm doing with my time. I expect things will shift around as I ramp up to Collegium again. But it's a start and will get me rolling again. Motion is good; stillness is suffocating.
