Whistle a happy song...

Sometimes when the weather is really gloomy, I feel gloomy or get really bad cabin fever. I know at the start I was bummed we weren't going to coronet, but I had a great weekend anyway. (I'm suffering camping withdrawl and Villa Luna withdrawl). I am taking off on 4/16 for my RSN class and won't be back until 4/28, so it was nice that the last weekend was relaxing, productive and cozy.
It was an Anti-Drama Zone filled with fun and silly. Yay!
Weekend Happy Notes
Track Mom
I'm a track mom, not a Track Mom. I like the excitement. I like watching my son. I like our team. I like our coaches. But I'm not as insane as most other track parents swirling around me. These other parents wanted to win, talked training strategy, and even had one kid at track and a second at "other sport" with "other parent". I honestly can't imagine having a life totally driven by my kids extracurricular activities or being obsessed over winning to the point of a personal coach for my kid. Is it me or them? Not that I'm going to change to conform, but ... what is the parenting norm with regard to building your life around your kids development and activities? Maybe the overscheduled lives of kids is due to upwardly mobile families living up to social expectations and "Keeping up with the Jones". Or something. I'll have to ponder.
Even without his track uniform Super N had a blast anyway. Yay. He was in 3-4 relays, including 4x400, where he did a full lap as #3. Woot woot.
Another happy note - track meet ended by 1pm. OMG!@! That was AWESOME. All previous meets ran until 3:30, so I was thrilled.
It was also very (very) cold and windy out with intermittent sprinkling, forcing me to embrace my inner wimp. Around 11 am my biggest fan showed up with mittens and fancy hot coffee flavored with caramel and kisses... I am loved. Yay!
I also got the rest of my volunteer stints in, so I'll get my $50 deposit back from our team at the end of the season (they hold a $50 check hostage and if you don't do 3 volunteer stints, they cash it). Talk about being really happy!!!
Family Fun
After track we all had lunch out, which was family-liscious and then F took the kids on an errand-run so I could hit the gym. Yay!
We had some friends over at our place for a mojito-liscious time. Food company, good food (if I do say so, myself), and games.
Couch Potato Fails Traffic School's Personal Questions
Sunday was mellow - although I did traffic school on line from home, which went well until I tried to take the final exam and failed the "personal info" questions. This is their way of making sure I'm who I say I am and are suposedly pulled from my credit report. ????? I failed the questions about me? And now I need to go to a local place to take the final exam. What a pain. At least it will be done this week.

Date: 2010-04-13 12:16 am (UTC)I hate questions like "name of your favorite pet?"
"During what period of my life," I ask.
Now I've standardized my answers, and refuse to answer any question with more than one word, no matter what they ask. That way I won't get them in the wrong order or something.
