The check is in the mail

Without going into further details, I'm freaking out because the site fee wasn't paid.
whu? Ack! Argh!
This is not a rant, it's a freak-out. However, through my faster-than-thought e-mail and my "family" connections, it's being handled through an overly elaborate check exchange program that, on Friday night, will be using fundage from my personal account. Yes, meaning that I personally am paying for the site for the event. Not happy about that. However, the Kingdom Exchequer (many blessings on her head) is a fast e-mail responder, grascious and (more importantly) very organized. (let's all stand and do a wave). She said she's sending me a check in the mail to cover me. So I'm holding my breath and trusting that infamous line, "the check is in the mail". (Now, if only I had Jack Burton's street-fighting moves and savvy!)
For some reason the feast tickets are hotter this week than they were last week. What's with that? People only just now looking at their calendars? Anyway, it's all good. I need to proof read and probably tweak the site handout one more time tonight so I can print tomorrow. Class boards are made (hurrah!). There won't be any free coffee this time - my lead fundraiser is lolling about the place in Cabo and this "one-woman sweat shop" just doesn't have the steam to contact Starbucks and then arrange to pick up free coffee. Although if you're reading this (unlikely that anyone is!) and you want to take that on, I'm more than happy to dub thee the Coffee Fairy! Class booklets were toted to Beltane so I could use them as an excuse to talk to people ... I mean so that people had an opportunity to pre-reg for classes.
(New thought: What am I going to do with myself after Saturday? I'll have no more purpose in the SCA. I suddenly feel uneasy and disturbed. I'll have no mission ... no burning drive to harrass people ... Wait! I have apprentices/students that are languishing. Aha! I can focus my fearsome powers on them. Whew! I was feeling dizzy and directionless for a second.)
In other news
I save $4 a day by taking public transportation. Thank you, MultiMillion dollar crude oil conglomerates. I was on the border over the convenience of my car vs public transportation. You just helped me decide to not spend $80 a month. Or as D'Salia says, "That's a lot of fabric".
Work is good. Nailed a few deadlines. I'm only behind on 6 other deadlines. (sigh) So tomorrow will be nose deep in paper.
I am loving the family time in the evenings. It seems to be split between practicing writing our letters and roller skating in the backyard. They skate while I supervise with a fist full of bandaids.

Date: 2006-05-11 01:42 pm (UTC)2. I wish public transit were cheaper for me. $12 dollars a day to drive my car, $22 dollars a day to take mass transit. 1 hour in my car each way, 2.5 hours each way via mass transit. No brainer for me.
