ENTJ

We did myers-briggs at work. The entire process was Fascinating. Apparently I'm ENTJ. I was surprised at the "extrovert" bit. Really? Maybe it's the lack of shame because I don't feel brave. On the other hand, I was so deep into the scale for "J" (planning, organizing, etc), I almost pegged it at max. My inner control freak nodded and my team laughed their butts off, which was almost embarrassing. However, we were all "J" to one degree or another.

The team average was ENTJ. Individually, we had a very good balance.

sigh. One more reason to cry about boss retiring. After visiting each of us at our desks and giving hugs, she left quietly and without fan-fare at noon. Can I go home now? Haven't I done enough work today?

My life is pretty boring - as it should be. Boring is good.

I am setting aside Thursdays to sew. I've managed to create a huge project list for myself over the last year. I was having a total melt down that I couldn't complete it all by A&S, which is silly since they are all self-imposed deadlines. Anyway, I had a reality check and since I'm not super human, since I don't want to spend the rest of my life being driven by projects and since most of these are freebies for others, I've decided to just tackle them one at a time on Thursdays and march forward until they are done. No new projects for anyone else. If you're not written down on the list, try me in 2008 cuz next year is all about ME.

Sewing is happening behind a mountain of crap in the dining room. We'll see how much real progress I can make under the circumstances. Spouse is making me a workshop. Oddly, circumstances are conspiring to make him do it RIGHT NOW.

The workshop is going to be a pre-fab job from Home Depot. The "special deal" for freebies on it expired this week, so da Spouse raced in and ordered it. He thought he had 2 weeks to prepare the spot. He doesn't - he has 1-2 weeks before they deliver, which could mean 1 week, which means "prepare spot NOW". He thought it was going to snug up against the house on the cement pad - it can't cuz it needs clearance. It can't cut into the required easement we have to maintain in that area and it can't come closer than 5ft to the property line. Sooooo.... the only spot left without sticking it in the middle of the lawn requires him to spend the weekend knocking down a fence, ripping out a 6ft+ tall bush, removing plants, removing debris and preparing the space ... alone. I am fascinated by how the male brain works. Had it been my project, I would have looked into ... but I digress because it's not my project. I'm working very hard at not looking over his shoulder. I'll be taking the children to Erinwood, where I won't be moving earth, removing bushes, or knocking down fences ... for once. Ther will be an evening bocce ball and pall mall game, but that's fun, not work.

Work is intense. The new supervisor is friendly. Time will tell how closely we are aligned on how twe think we should do the things we do. The project pressure is intense. I've lost my cool a few times so now I practice for meetings before going in - shouting matches don't actually accomplish anything.

My "big deal" right now is getting into the gym 4x a week. I promised when I was done with Collegium I'd take care of my health. I was letting all those projects get in the way and last week I put my foot down with myself. I was in last Thurs, Sat, Monday and last night. Going in tonight and probably tomorrow night. I'm spending 1/2 hr doing cardio and 45 min to an hour being serious with the weight equipment. Everything aches, nothing is injured and I think my biceps are already looking better. I've got 20-30 lbs to lose and some personal health goals. Next to my family, this is my first priority over everything else (hobbies included). So sewing behind the mountain of crap only happens after the gym. heh.

You are Pan. You're an extremely creative and fun-loving individual. You have a predisposition to acting and performing, and you enjoy it. YOu're very outgoing, and you are genuinely interested in other people. You probably have a pet parakeet, play an instrument, write poetry, tell jokes, love parties, have lots of friends, remember people, names and faces, paint, and have a righteous social conscious.

You're very good natured, but can be naive and exploited by less good natured people. You're mischevious, but in a usually harmless way.

Famous people like you: Franz Joseph Haydn, Dr. Suess, Bill Cosby, Sandra Bullock, Oscar Wilde
Stay clear of: Atlas, Hermes, Icarus
Seek out: Anyone else.

I'd have pegged you as an extrovert -- I'm not sure how much it has to do with bravery, but you have always struck me as a "people person." Even when you don't like people, you always seem to want them around.

I think self imposed deadlines are the worst. I always feel like I've failed, but in reality it was just my over achiever self expecting that I could keep up the pace and even up the pace. Sigh. Trying to pace myself to get through 2006. I really appreciate that you would be willing to spend even a little bit of your time and energy on me. Thank-you. You looked wonderful this weekend - healthy and like a period picture! Whatever you are doing it working.

A few years ago we did Myers-Briggs at a department retreat. I was ISTJ, which didn't surprise me particularly. However, I was also on the far end of the "J" scale.
