Actually, it's not horrendous. I've had this before; in 2002 something mysterious happened to my back and I did not fully recover until 6 months after the initial "sproing".

Skip forward to now: Saturday was a good day. Sunday was bad; took medicines and slept most of the day away. Yesterday was pretty good; I forgot my medicine at home and was actually feeling okay (not spry, but just a little achey) until about 7pm, when the pain reasserted itself and convinced me not to go to the gym. (haha! yes, I had my mind set on a mild work out). Today: so far, so good.

Overall: Sproing on Jan 25. Feb 5, which is less than 2 weeks later, I got through most of a day before I feel I need to dull any pain. I'm very excited about this- it's much quicker than last time around.MUCH!! yay!
