Thursday... let's be efficient!!
We unpacked our stuff from the Suburban and then inventoried and packed the trailer Thursday for whole family to go. I repacked the Suburban Friday night to go solo; I ended up loading it with almost the exact same stuff we took out of it Thursday night. (There is no reward for hard workers except more hard work).
I slept on someone else's floor Friday night since I got to site so late.
Apparently I can't pound stakes silently at 7:30am (So sayeth

Vigils are fun when you're drunk, but freaking hysterical when you're the only sober one. I was in rare form.
Hung out with lots and lots of friends I hardly see. (catagon, sirst, goatface, tuysa, ysa, skachick, ... gah... it's a huge list. I was social all weekend)
WKNG mtg was interesting. I finally showed up to one AND paid attention. Still percolating on that and forming thoughts. They sure do a lot of work for the Kingdom.
Laurel ceremony of Mistress I was freaking cool. So honored to have been there.
I maintained a peer-like dignity all weekend in the face of extreme temptation. I wanted to be bad soooo badly and I even knew how. But I mostly refrained. Key words: plausible deniability.
The people that pulled the "cheap beer caper" are hysterical. I wonder if they realize that "someone" is going to nuke the shit out of them? and that I'll gleefully help? It's what fealty family do.. we hide the bodies so our friends don't have to lie.
Apprenti did great projects. Even the book-writing one who was absent; I have a token for her from the WKNG.
I had a marvelous chat w/ Duke P, O, and H under the umbrella. I am still percolating on how easy it was to chat w/ Duke P and how much I enjoyed sharing with him. Bizarre, no?
I was touched by how sweet Duke P's lady is.
Dinner was great. Students and their S.O.s were invited. A very lovely time was had.
Rashid drummed, I danced. Siobhan and Juliana danced w/ me. And we danced with the wind.
The casino/bar thing was interesting. I got to watch first hand as "someone" set off the alarm on the bull horn at 2 am. Freaking hysterical.
The Bellatrix's had a puker Saturday night. ick.
Got home and unpacked the necessaries. Then fed kids and played "Kids' Catan" with them.
There was a power outage Sunday night and I almost burned down house after the power came back on. I was boiling eggs on the (electric) stove and forgot to turn it off. The odor was extremely bad. Pot is currently outside and I predict it will be thrown away. My bad.
good weekend. missed the family. Lots of new projects swirling in the back of my head.
Too Funny
Date: 2007-06-25 07:20 pm (UTC)And no, there is no quiet when pounding stakes.
Re: Too Funny
Date: 2007-06-25 07:42 pm (UTC)I was asleep and probably would have never woken up because the windows in the bedroom were open and the breeze was so strong, the odor never made it in there. The odor, however, rousted the man from the computer room. The eggs had started to explode on the stove top. He grabs pot and puts it under water and the other eggs promptly explode when the water hits them. He tells me one hit him in the eye.
Yeah... I'm in trouble at home. It was pretty thoughtless. I ascribe it to being weary and then falling asleep with the kids. The power came on after I was asleep. I think he might not leave me home alone for a while... something about not trusting me to turn off stoves and ovens...
Re: Too Funny
Date: 2007-06-25 08:57 pm (UTC)cover eggs with water by about 1"
put lid on put, turn on high. Stay in the kitchen until eggs come to a full boil.
move the pan to a different burner. Don't turn on the burner, leave the lid on. Set the timer for 15 min. If you make it back to turn off the timer, run the pan full of cold water to stop the eggs from cooking.
works every time. and yes, I have boiled egg pans dry before too. don't add cold water to a boiled dry pan - it's best to just leave it somewhere heatproof to cool off before you throw everything out.
