Pumpkinman half iron (70.3) in 2010! Vegas Baby!

As of last night, the husband is now aware of the 5-year plan. On the scale of crazy, I convinced him that Charlie Engle (who ran across the Sahara) wins the "ultimate crazy person" award. I'm just kind of intense and focused. I've found my own freedom in endurance sports; I'm not planning any ultramarathons or eco-challenges.

He's very supportive and reassured me that I'm not a freak when I told him that sometimes I feel like a lab rat when viewed from the outside; people are curious and fascinated, but many think I'm nuts, few understand "why" even after I tell them, and most would rather have a root canal than do this. F just thinks my focus and intensity are unusual; people are curious about how I went from couch potato to Olympic triathlon in less than 2 years. Maybe so. He also told me how proud he is. He's seen from the inside how hard I've worked; he watched me relearn how to run last year, relearn how to do distance swimming and become comfortable in the water, relearn how to ride a bike (a painful experience!). He's seen me lose my focus and regain it, roll out of bed at 2 am and go for a run, and stumble in the house at midnight and crawl up the stairs. I have the best fan ever.

Finally, in his Dexter-like way, he asked me if I could make any money at his. He was yanking my leg but I admitted I had some ideas for sponsorship if I demonstrate that I can rank. Trust me, I'm not holding my breath, but I'm just not willing to shoot myself down before I've really tried. The fastest way to failure is to tell yourself that you can't. So I'm full of humility, but instead of saying, "I could never do that," I'm saying, "who knows. I'm going to push it as hard as life lets me and I'll see where it takes me."

No promises and no holding back.

Yeah Disney World!!! I hope you can manage to go! Check the website for the kids activities to sweeten the deal- the Pirate and Princess Run is ADORABLE! Kelly and I saw it last time I ran and it was great. Plus there's a Family 5K in Epcot- all of which have associated medals. Cheeper option- Disneyland Half in September!

Anyhoo... plan looks great. I wish I loved running or else I'd join you at something other than Disney Races!

I'm working on convincing him that Disneyworld (+ marathon) would be fun. He's "thinking" about it.

I am! Start time is 8 am. We're spending Saturday night. We will be there at 6:30 so I can get a good rack spot.

call my cell (which I will send to you privately!! LOL) so that we can find each other.

Yay! cheering! Cuz salt water stings, but friends do not!

It's the "main" beach. The directions I found say West Cliff Drive at Beach St. (which will hopefully make sense when we get there.)

And the yahoo map I pulled show that West Clif and beach intersect near the beach. Fingers crossed that Yahoo has not (again) led me astray.

You know we might be able to work it out that we can come cheer you on in Disney world :)

Isn't it wonderful to have such a all around wonderful and supportive spouse! I know I've been so blessed to have Scott in my life!

If it's anything like the Napa race, the transition area and raceway is cordonned off but the spectators plant themselves nearby. We brought folding chairs last time and F + crew parked in the shade of a tree. I imagine that they will keep folks off the course, but there's no zone set aside for spectators. I suspect you get to wander freely as long as you don't wander into the path of the racers.
