In the office next door to me is my validation counterpart (VC); although he manages people and I don't, we both sign the same documents. We represent different "interests". I'm QA and I make sure we documented everything that needs to be documented. My challenge (and that of many of my QA fellows) is to avoid going overboard into the land of the ridiculous. My VC represents time and money - less is more, etc. His challenge is to convince me that they did enough. To his credit, he is not only very good at his job, he has a very good "quality" mindset. Thus we banter more often than actually argue.
We banter a lot. A lot! Almost every conversation has banter. And we mock each other endlessly. And we mock ourselves endlessly. And we mock everyone around us, the project, life, the universe, etc, etc. And we're loud. A nearby coworker just compared us to "Mike Nichols and Elaine Mae". Apparently we crack her up, even in the midst of our vigorous disagreements we are respectful, but funny.
Glad we could provide a service.
Who are Mike Nicols and Elaine Mae?
