The weeds have won the battle, but not the war

The weeds are still popping up like mad even though I've "weeded" every night this week to remove all visible traces. They sure grow fast. And the slivers in the knuckles seem to be prone to infection. I've started weeding with my left hand in order to protect my right hand.

Thank you for all the great advice. I'll be removing the bark, pulling up the ground cloth and spraying chemical death on the little f*ckers during July. I'll also be taking everyone's advice on how to protect my plants.
