Sammy Hagar on Sunday eve. It was a blast. Food from our favorite Mediterranean place – Shwerma will keep you warma! Unfortunately, F stayed home sick. So the babysitter (Nana) watched the kids and made sure he was okay, too. Ah well. As I was saying to Unka on the way home, I think he was only going to go in order to humor me. As long as he doesn’t get sick for NN pt 2, the Tempest, or Cirque, it’s okay.

The concert was fun. Montrose was very good. I couldn’t contain myself when they played “Heavy Metal” – that was a soundtrack I wore out in high school. So I jumped up and hopped around and screamed out the lyrics.

People watching was richly funny. It was interesting to see what happened to all the stoners and “cool chicks” from high school. Alcohol, cigarettes and drugs are bad for the skin and the waist band, that’s for sure. The skank factor was very high; watching drunk or stoned women stumble around in leopard skin high-heals, tight jeans and lacy see-through tops while navigating the lawn was quite entertaining. Fortunately, none of them fell on me. The number of crappy tatoos was also impressive along with the enthusiasm people had in showing them off. I even saw a poorly done nipple piercing, but I had to rely on one of our party to evaluate – it’s not something I ever plan to have better personal knowledge of!

People watching aside, great concert; Sammy is fun. My only regret was he didn't play longer.

and the rest of the boring stuff

No gym today.

Today I’m sick. For real sick, not for fake sick. Which is ironic because we joked at the concert last night about calling in sick today. However, I didn’t call in sick to work, I just came in kind of late and slithered around the place. I’m reviewing my technical reports and going to scheduled meetings. I have a very low energy level and everyone is telling me that I look like crap and to please not breath in their direction. NO ONE is telling me to go home because we all know how pressed my team is to get our critical project done. This week is going to suck with the tremendous project deadline I’ve got to deal with. I anticipate working quite late Tuesday and Wednesday – I might not go home Wednesday night in order to get it done by Thursday AM.

And I’m pushing Collegium. Yay. Even though I'm beat and tired, I am very inspired. The teachers always do that for me – they start sending their class descriptions and I start to feel that burn to push the event so that they will have a better time, etc. It’s amps up my enthusiasm for the event.

I’m close to finishing the embroidery project for CL. Today was the initial deadline, but she pushed it out another week. I’m ready to be done. I hope I can stay up and get a couple of hours into it tonight. I’m guesstimating it needs about 6 hours to finish.

On the "hurrah" side, F is more than half way done with my new heater. I'm so excited. My other shield was someone's throw-away 15+ years ago. This one will be strapped for me. I hope it will be ready for practice next week so I can break it in at Erinwood Tourney.

I did a good deed today. A co-worker is having bad-life issues. Really, really bad life - she made me cry when she shared with me last week. She said she adores the candy apples from Grand Ave chocolates. Since I was running late anyway, I cruised over there on my way to work and got her one. It was totally cool and reminded me how much I enjoy the process of making candy. The apple made her day. "Yay!" for good deeds that make people smile while in the valley of darkness. I got a cookie for myself - yay for me; I really enjoyed it, too. I also made an appointment to take the kids there on a tour next month. Yay for the kids - Stinky will probably really enjoy it.

And I need sleep. Sleep (and my antibiotics) will hopefully deal with the nasty cold thing I've got. Feh!
