A little sleep can go a long way...

Me: Wow, Nicholas, you've had a great day! I'm so proud of you. Why do you think it's been so good?
him, big grin and sparkly eyes: Because I got enough sleep, Mommy.
I can't resist that little smile. He's just so freaking cute! And isn't it pretty cool that without having the line fed to him, he had such a good self-insight?
I tried picking the kids up early from preschool yesterday. but.. ahem... Nicholas wanted to do his homework at preschool... which meant sitting next to the pretty 2nd grader that also attends our preschool. (brain . is . freezing . in . panic...) When Evie realized that I was going to go home and come back for her brother later on, she opted to stay, too. She thinks boys are dumb, but she was definitely plugged into the girl power circle in the sand-box. (Somehow, that's almost as scary as my 6yr old latching onto an older woman)....
Who gave them permission to grow up? I am putting a stop to that right now! (sigh)... Yes, it's a good thing. But it's hard to sit by and watch your toddlers grow up and become independent. Yup, I'm definitely suffering growing pains from watching them grow up.
